Training
At Canis Lupus K9 Academy we strive to provide the best partnership in training between owners, trainers and dog. Using positive reinforcement we work with what motivates the dog. This is not always a treat, sometimes your dog is just as excited to work for a tennis ball or a squeaky toy! We use minimal corrections. Fear and heavy handed-ness does not teach a dog, it just inhibits the behavior. We figure out WHY the dog isn't listening and work through it so that they WANT to work for you. By teaching you as the handler, training basics you are able to continue teaching your dog even after the class has concluded.

Individual Obedience Training- We can work with your family to create an individualized plan for obedience training. Training is available in your home or out in public. We can work on commands, manners, response at a distance and/or working around distractions. Sessions are an hour in length.

Group Classes- Classes are offered for up to 10 dog/handler teams. Group instruction provides an overview of training basics and commands. Participants will learn how to get their dog to listen and respond to commands such as sit, stay, down, come, heel, etc. A handful of behavioral topics are also included. Overly reactive dogs will be required to have 3 one-on-one sessions before joining a group class. Classes meet weekly for 1 hour. *Note: Canis Lupus K9 Academy does not currently have a training facility. Check back for upcoming dates.

Canine Good Citizen Testing- Have you prepared for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test through the AKC? We can help you complete the test! You must successfully pass all 10 testing exercises as a dog/handler team in order to get the certification as a CGC Dog. More information in the CGC Program here.
